Our client is looking for a Solution Architect:

Job Scope

Solution Architects are software experts who work with clients to structure and conduct evaluations of enterprise solutions. They perform a wide range of duties - from delivering technical presentations and demonstrations to managing the evaluation process, conducting detailed requirements analysis, understanding the competitive marketplace, performing technical account management and delivering proof-of- concept and prototype projects.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Provide highly specialized knowledge and technical approval on a project during proposal writing, solution design and its implementation.
• Review technical elements of contracts, service agreements and requests for information.
• Design and define a business solution that will meet the needs of the client.
  • This will take the initial form of a detailed Functional Requirements document. This will define a business solution that is technically feasible with associated defined of high-level technical tasks with resource estimates.
  • Once the project starts, be involved in agreeing with the client the detail of any requested changes.
• Delivering technical presentations to project team in knowledge transfer of solution proposed to client such as:
  • What are the deliverables?
  • When is the committed date for completion?
  • What are the constraints?
  • What are the limitations?
• Assume responsibility for software development, technical decisions and leadership of customer solution projects in both pre-sales and post-sales capacities
• Assure that all work performed is within the scope of the contract. If out-of-scope work is required, liaison with the project engineer in generation of an ECR/ECN to cover additional work.
• Provide central engineering in integration and implementation test throughout the project.
• Initiate and verify development release. Identify current and potential problems, whether internally or through customer complaints, and formulate corrective action recommendations.
• Provide development support in the areas of failure analysis, disposition of non-conforming, and rework procedures.
• Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle: requirements, architecture, design, code, and test
• Work with Account Managers and or Sales Team, and customers to define project requirements and assume responsibility for crafting all aspects of the technical solution
• Assist in customization and application of Software Road Map methodology as appropriate to client project.
• Provide management support to project manager to ensure quality implementations and client satisfaction.
• Educate clients on software implementation services and methodologies.
• Provide internal & external parties with reliable expert service
• Other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics / Mechatronics or equivalent
• At least 4 years of similar experience in at least one of these areas :
  1. Material Management Systems

(material tracking in warehousing operations, materials handling, distribution, materials storage, inventory, functional programming, engineering the movement of people, etc)
2. Work-in-process tracking
3. Field and Service Application
4. Time and Attendance Tracking (employee tracking, job tracking, labour tracking and shop floor information tracking)
5. Process and Document tracking
6. Smart card applications

• Good knowledge of SQL Access, Oracle or other databases
• Preferably proficient in application development in Visual Basic, C and Visual C
• Knowledge of PC and data collection hardware and RS232/RS485
